1. I should have started this blog a long time ago. I have received many nudges and pushes to share some of my thoughts and observations. So, here you go!
2. Ireland is on the ‘edge of Europe’ and ‘across the water’ from America. This can be isolating, but it can also provide a good vantage point.
3. Dance in Ireland is over-rated and under-developed. It is because it is over-rated that it is under-developed. Big Fish – Little Pond. Lots of potential with little room to move.
4. There are other things that are far more interesting than dance, but this is my particular obsession. Dance and the Arts: I read it, watch it, practice it, teach it, research it, discuss it, write about it. Although, I diverge into the ‘more interesting’ from time to time, whatever that might be.
5. I am quite open to being wrong. What interests me is the debate. People should be more willing to engage in critical discussions, especially in the arts.
6. I’ve been watching you… if you are a dance writer, blogger or journalist. I have been reading, listening to and discussing the many issues brought up in the various media over the past few years.
7. I borrowed the title and format of this post from a weekly article in The Observer Magazine.
